Preparing for the new year. (open to staff)
« Thread Started on Feb 10, 2008, 4:19pm »

When: 31 August 2007
Where: Potions Lab, Lost Canyon Academy
Who: Professor Lexington, open to staff
What: Preparing for the new students

Augustus sighed heavily as he surveyed the Potions lab. Every year he got this room ready for the students, and every year he had to tear everything down. And why? What was the point in baring the room every June, when he would only have to put everything back together in August?

He began with the desks. With a wave of his hand, he began to levitate the desks into neat rows and columns. Two students would sit at each desk, three desks in each row, five desks in each column. Just like always.

With the desks in place, Augustus turned to the blackboard. He levitated the board back onto the wall at the front of the room and charmed his name and the name of his first class ("Eleventh Grade Potions") onto the board.

That step completed, he turned to levitating the textbooks from the boxes on the floor back onto the bookshelf.

Just like every year.

The headmistress sat at her desk, busily answering the day's post. It was amazing how much mail the Head of a school got in the week leading up to the beginning of classes.

Dear Headmistress,
My son is in eighth grade at your school...

The letter went on to detail the child's horrendous allergy to peanuts. The headmistress smiled to herself as she wrote out her reply.

Dear Sir:
I assure you that the house elves will be careful to avoid putting peanuts in the foods given to your son. Any farther issues related to allergies should be routed to our mediwitch.
Sincerely,
Headmistress Josephine Lightwood

The headmistress folded the letter and waved her hand, and it disappeared.
