One thing you may notice, depending on your attention to details, is that nowhere have I mentioned wands. That is because, in America, wizards don't need wands. Using a wand is practically unheard of here. Why, you ask?
What is a wand, anyway? What is the purpose of it? A wand is a stick, made from wood and with a core of a part of a magical animal, that wizards in Europe use to channel their magic. In America, wizards don't need to use wands to channel magic.
The first thing students learn upon coming to Lost Canyon (well, second - they first learn where the bathrooms are located) is how to focus themselves. Focus is achieved through a variety of methods, meditation being the most obvious and the most frequent. As I doubt many of you meditate enough to be able to focus throughout an entire detailed explanation, I'll cut to the chase:
No wands allowed. Magic is channeled through the wave of a hand, the point of a finger, the twitch or a nose, or, in the case of some males, by focusing with some other part of the anatomy , but not through a wand.
